Christmas Quilty Things

Here’s a quick rundown of some of the things I made for Christmas presents this year (now that all of the recipients have received/opened them). Some of these have been “in the works” since last Christmas – and it was nice to finally finish them up.

See…. I really do still occasionally turn on my sewing machine!    😉

Random Quilty Things

I hope you all had a great weekend, and got out to enjoy some of the sun, and maybe a few of the flowers peeking out. It’s finally getting warmer, the “summer birds” are reappearing, and (by the looks of my lawn) it’s almost time to start mowing again. THAT part I’m not quite ready for…..hmph.  😦

Due to a weekends worth of a Sinus/Ear Infection, it has been an “overly Medicated” weekend. This means that I’ve spent far too much time in bed, and not gotten enough done. However, I did get a couple of things accomplished this weekend, and I thought I’d let you take a peek.

I just have to finish stitching down the binding on these, and they can be on their merry way!  🙂

Now, it’s time for more meds, and back to bed I go….

Y’all have a great day!

Shady

Santa….

Santa, please define “Naughty”???? I only ask because according to some, I’ve been really good (nice) this year. However, according to others, I’ve been really not-so-good (naughty?) this year. In my defense Santa, the one’s who say I’ve been naughty are MUCH naughtier than I…..so, I’m confused!?!?

Thus, I’m pleading my case for the “Good” category this year, and hoping that you see it the same way.  🙂  Therefore, here is my Christmas Wish List – just in case you agree:

Dear Santa,

Please bring me a Live-In Maid/Assistant, so that I can accomplish some of the things that I would like to do for me (selfish, I know, but it IS MY Wish list). She needs to be responsible for, and able to, take care of all of the everyday needs/requirements/demands of all of the crazy people living in my house. The care-taking, the cooking, the cleaning, the laundry, the errand running, the mess-containment and removal of the messes left in their wakes (this is different from regular cleaning duties), the refereeing, etc., etc., etc….. She must be on a first-name basis with the vacuum cleaner, and so friendly with the dishwasher that their relationship makes her friends jealous! The washer and dryer are considered her two bestest friends, and the broom and dustpan invited her to their wedding. She must have more energy than the “Energizer Bunny”, be able to operate on minimal (if any) sleep, and – ohhh yeah – she MUST look just like me so that “THEY” don’t know that I’m actually M.I.A.!!

This Blessed gift would free me up to actually have enough time to get my Christmas Cookies baked (and delivered), the final quilts finished up for Christmas gifts, take care of the Christmas Cards (not even started yet!!), and MAYBE sit down long enough to watch my Christmas movies (Annabelle’s Wish, Miracle on 34th Street, etc.). She would be SOOOOOO appreciated – at least by me!!  🙂

If, by some chance, you are unable to locate such a perfect gift I do have a couple of other suggestions. Perhaps, a 24 hour snowstorm that drops 5 foot of snow so that NOTHING – esp. those dadburned Mail Trucks – can move. Then I could just sit on the couch under a quilt watching movies, and baking cookies (gotta multi-task doncha’ know)! However, the snow has to all melt in 48 hours so that I don’t have to shovel it, or drive in it.  🙂

Now, if you’re feeling REALLY generous, a new laptop and a plane ticket to the Caribbean (one-way please, or at least one with a 6 month return date!) would be most welcome too!!  🙂

I hope this helps you in your gift-giving decisions, and I’ll be anxiously awaiting your arrival! Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go start packing, and I’ll try to bake you a few cookies before you get here. However, I might have to substitute in a Fruitcake instead!! 😉

Merry Christmas.

Love, Shady

Thoughts From The Disorganized Quilter…

Hooray!!! Scrawny red-headed weatherboy was wrong!!! No snow here – however, it’s 16 degrees right now, and that’s about the same temp. it’s been for the last 24 hours. TOO COLD!!! I want my 70 degree weather back! I am NOT a Polar Bear…..

The sweet Miss Pat (Sloan) (to see her blog go to www.patsloan.typepad.com ) convicted me last night when she declared this the “Holiday Finish It Up Weekend” and asked what we still had undone for Christmas. UUGGHH!!! I had to admit that I have WAAYYY too many projects to still finish up! Where does the time go?!?! I have 4 casserole carriers cut and ready to go – but not yet put together, 2 kids throw quilts now in the topquilting process (done by me, not sent out), some curtains to finish and 3 other throws (ahem) not as far along as I would like. Not to mention I haven’t even started my baking yet….I need elves too, so whoever is assigning them for helpers this year, I’m placing an order for at least 2 – make that 10….

Now I do actually have several projects done, but I swore that THIS year (make this same resolution EVERY year *sighs*) would be different and I would finish everything up LONG before Christmas…..yeah,  that’s not working. So, I have a 3 day “Quilting Marathon” scheduled for the beginning of next week. That means I’m gonna have to stay off the computer, unplug the phone, kick everyone out of the house, lock the doors and tie myself (figuratively speaking – sort of) to the sewing machine! Wish me luck…

I’m so easily distracted sometimes that I feel like the dog in the movie “UP”. You know, the one that will be talking to you and shout “squirrel!!” when he thinks he sees one out of the corner of his eye?!? For example, I went to look for something (still can’t remember what!!!!) in a chest of drawers that I keep for craft supplies. I ended up cleaning all five drawers out, rearranging everything and putting it all somewhere else, moved the chest into another room, reloaded it with other stuff and STILL can’t remember what I was originally looking for!!! But, my drawers are clean *grin*.

A friend called that “being inspired”….yeah, okay 🙂 that sure sounds better than borderline A.D.H.D…. LOL 🙂  Just think of all the quilts I could actually get DONE if would quit getting “inspired” all the time!! LOL

I’m still getting more goodie recipes added to the site, and plan to actually start uploading the Christmas Cookie recipes later today. They are all over my desk top right now, so if I don’t get them on there a certain paper-eating feline will be removing them from the desk for me…Stay tuned!!
